My first attempt at hot process soap making!

Well yesterday saw my first attempt at hot process soap making, and it will definitely not be the last. I’m hooked! I decided to give it a go as I had heard a lot about the cold process of making soap, and realized that with it only being two weeks until my first stall at a local mind, body and spirit Fayre…, I wouldn’t have time for the soap to cure (cold process soap needs at least 6-8wks). Hot process soap on the other hand only needs two weeks (ok I know it’s still cutting it a bit fine, but hey it’s all good fun).

Palm oil free

It was important to me to make a soap that eco friendly as well as natural. Palm oil is a key component of most soap recipes, but I wanted to make a soap with a palm oil substitute. After some research, I was able to edit the recipe accordingly and make a 100% natural oat & honey soap (palm oil free). It is free from any artificial ingredients or parabens. The recipe does however contain a small amount of Beeswax so not vegan friendly.

The ingredients are Olive oil, Coconut oil, Shea butter, Beeswax, oats and honey; and I am thrilled with the result. It produces a wonderful lather and leaves your skin feeling beautifully soft. I am looking forward to showing it off at the forthcoming craft fayre, and adding it to the range available in my online Etsy shop.

I handmake beeswax candles and other natural health and beauty products. I am passionate about nature and the incredible benefits that can be obtained from plants and natural products such as beeswax. I love the active air purifying benefits of beeswax candles, and use nothing but pure natural ingredients in my products to promote the health of myself, my family and the environment. 5% of any profit is donated to the charity
